Temporomandibular joint complaints are disorders of the masticatory system. Our chewing system consists of chewing muscles, two jaw joints and the teeth. The temporomandibular joint is surrounded by ligaments, tendons and masseter muscles. Thanks to the masseter muscles, we can use our teeth, but also swallow, speak, laugh and yawn. If something is wrong with our chewing system, this can cause complaints, such as cracking or a cracking sound when chewing. Pain may occur in the joint at the level of the ear. The teeth and molars, but also muscles in the neck area can be hypersensitive or painful. And your teeth can wear out excessively. We offer various treatments to remedy these complaints. Reconstructive surgery for implantology
A dental implant is an artificial root of titanium that is placed in the jaw bone when your own tooth has been lost. The implant is placed in the bone by the Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon. When this bone has grown to the implant, a crown, bridge or prosthesis can be attached to it. Your teeth are complete again. Do you also need an implant? Jaw operations: Orthognatic surgery/dental orthopedics (moving lower and/or upper jaw)
If your teeth are crooked, see an orthodontist. They move teeth and molars in order to make a stable bite, which means that teeth and molars fit together well. But sometimes the jaws are also not in the right position, so that a stable bite is not possible. In such a case, a jaw correction is necessary. Do you bite the palate with the lower teeth?
